About The Event
ASCENT stands for A Student Challenge in Engineering and Technology; we are a student organization at the University of Ottawa who - each year - hold a conference for high school students with the intention of giving them hands-on learning experience in STEM fields in a fun and innovative manner. ASCENT is a two-day conference where students participate as teams in competitive modules, expos and networking workshops. Students will obtain SHSM certifications in leadership, project management, and portfolio development.
The goal of the ASCENT conference is to expose students to niche fields of STEM and hot topics in today's rapidly changing world, giving students an opportunity to be creative and participate in hands-on informative activities while exploring career options before heading into their respective university programs.
Our upcoming conference is being held in February 2020 on Thursday the 20th and Friday the 21st. The conference is being held on the University of Ottawa campus and will focus on a secret theme related to STEM (previous themes include “Mission to Mars” and “Problems of the Far Future”).
